It's really mixed. The New York Times was righ about a lot of their complaints. I thought the ballroom scene was awful and amateurish and I knwo what they were trying to do, and the idea of creating menace in social dance is one I totally support, but the chroeography was lame and the costumes obscured it. What a waste of such iconic music.

That said, the young male dancers and Juliet were all fabulous and I don't want to be all fencing fencing fencing, but the swordplay stuff was fabulous ad heavily based in Real Stuff and dancey and complex too.

The production design -- eh.... I liked parts of it but it was very Danish. I kept thinking of Lars von Trier, which is never a good sign.

Over all? eh.
