Okay, Kali hates midnight movies, so we're going to see OotP a day or two later. I, however, love the madness. Does anyone out there on the friends list have a group planned for one of the midnight NYC showings that would be ammenable to the costumed and insane?

Thnx.

I'm torn about asking if I can come along. I hate midnight movies, but I hate that my Hermione outfit is languishing alone and unworn in my closet. I looked at it longingly when trying to decide what to wear tonight, but had to pass it by.

Well, you are welcome to once there is a plan. I am more hoping to latch onto someone else's plans than spearhead my own as this is sort of an offhand thought -- more I am realizing that I do want to see it at midnight for the event factor and with her for the Decensus factor.

Also, I don't want to repeat what happened for the first HP movie when I went by myself, in costume and random frat boys were mean to me before the movie and the couple in the seats next to me were having sex during the movie and then after the movie all those boys who had been mean to me were all "your outfit is so cool, where can I get clothe slike that, my girlfriend will be so into me." blah lbah blah.

Hey...

Have you heard about Once?

We saw it and thought it was excellent. It's the kind of small film ($150K budget only) that tends to get lost in the hooplah over the big summer films.

Seriously...

I have heard of it, but nothing more. I keep seeing the posters, so thankyou for saying something as I've been inundated lately only with things I'm getting paid to review or big pop stuff, and while I like that, I am really missing other things.

See, I hate the big pop stuff most of the time, but I do like to hunt down these little films. One of the things I thought was interesting about it was that critics heaped a lot of praise on the film, they didn't really say all that much about it.

I thought it was pretty amazing.

Yeah, I've heard it's good but I know nothing about it. Which is sort of nice, as the Daniel Pearl movie was really good, but you know pretty much exactly what you're getting the question is only about quality and pain.

Um, gina r snape and a few others (including myself) are planning to attend in a group. We're not sure yet though, of when we're going- but I've no problem going to the midnight release with anyone else if gina's group doesn't make it for then.

I for one will be going in full Ravenclaw costume. ;)

i would love to see the midnight screening.

also, since when is thing opening in July? Why was I convinced both the movie and book were coming out in June? Feh.

Anyway, I know a few people who've been making noises about going to the midnight screening and they definitely would not mind costumed crazy people. If it's playing at one of those Lowes theaters that has the VIP pay extra seats, then I say we do that. it guarantees a good seat, even if you don't stand in line for hours and hours.

Not that it won't be great...

I hate to say it, but the only movie I'm excited about seeing is The Golden Compass. I read the book years ago and it's an amazing adventure meant to be pitted against the overt Christian references of Narnia. Instead, in this a little girl is the heroine and the church is evil. And there is a mercenary fighting polar bear.
