In which LJ clarifies.

I can't help but as I read this to imagine the group of peopel trying to decide if a particular piece of erotic art has artistic merit rather than just artistic skill.

And a few things come to mind:

1. In such a group siotuation would dissenters ("it does have value!") feel comfotable speaking up?
2. What is the make up of the group, or, more to the point, if the image in question had featured Hermione instead of Harry, would it have survived? This is something I can't shake. We can't know of course, but the double standard exists in the MPAA, why shouldn't it exist here?
3. I've only gotten into fan art recently mainly because I look at a lot of it for [livejournal.com profile] snapenews, and I will note that I find it really interesting and beautiful and I like looking at it, although I almost never find it titilating -- including _the_ banned picture of the moment. So yeah, fuck you LJ.

Anyway, back to making breakfast, just wanted to pop in.

Mm, it's interesting how suddenly all the 'discussions' and the 'clarifications' that took place on the lj_biz community only a few weeks ago, where LJ said that 'these are the procedures' have no bearing whatsoever on this. It's as if those 'clarifications' were only a smokescreen, since they didn't put any of the 'new' rules into the ToS. Makes me wonder why they even bothered about those posts.

Why not just come clean and say, loudly: 'Fandom is only allowed here if it's not about porn, or that horrid slash you people insist on!' Because that's what it looks like to me. Underhandedly sending us that message will result in fandom leaving slowly, so if they want their squeaky clean image, better tell us so, now. *sigh*

I wonder if there's any organized dissent by people who, say, aren't any real part of fandom or slash but are horrified anyway? I'm in my late 30's and not likely to look at any online pics (just not my kink, even in a 'mainstream' way) and this whole thing is stupid. It's like they dodged like crazy and then started saying 'Well, we said we were going to do this'.

I don't want to leave LJ and I won't over this, but I won't have a paid account or one of the ones with advertising either.
