- handing over my weapons to Michael today for Sicily. I am brining my French foil eventhough it's a course focused on Italian swordsmanship because, it's mine and it sings in my hand and I want the ability to do something I'm competent at when I hit whatever bad frustration point is probably inevitable. Anyway, it will feel weird to have nothing by my horrible cheap telephone pole of a weapon I never use in the house.

- work has been a relentless ball of crisis due to people just noticing I was going on vacation.

- In freelance writing news today I have to write an article on comfort shoe construction and another one on gays and lesbians with disabilities.

- Really meaning to write the thing I've seen stewing on about why Torchwood matters to me (as opposed to just being major candy). I can feel myself feeling slightly sheepish about it, not because oh god, it's fannish since I'm rather used to that battle, but, because, I think, it's much easier to say "I identify with an ugly unlikeable character and this is why" and expect people won't necessarily come down on your head than it is to write a rant about murky personal power issues and identifying with a character who actually isn't the guy with the worst life EVER (just, you know, sometimes).

- I look totally hot today.

Just mentioning -- iPod = GLORIOUS. I've even converted Beth to it (and her interest in technological wonders generally borders on just this side of Luddite).

I also definitely use it as a writing tool -- even when I can't be writing right then, I can at least influence my thinking while doing household chores, traveling, etc.

The best writing mix I ever made, I can't listen to. I get so utterly depressed that I just -- slow down. But wow, is it a perfect mix for that particular project. Man.

Now I kind of want to go listen to it again, just once, and try that story again.
