Governors Island pictures

Meanwhile, I know I still owe lots of stories and photos from Sicily.

If you're in a photo here and want more or less informationdivulged about you (name/userid) let me know. I put as little information in as possible to be sensitive to different people's online needs. I should also note I don't know a lot of the people in these photos, some where just random shots that caught my fancy.

I break my own heart in this. I'm not sure why.

As we're trying to sort out the ettiquette of asking if we can just lean on the car for a photo, the owner says we can get in it. "I get to drive!" I holler, realizing I don't even know how to look competent in a car. It's small inside, tight, and straight and uncomfortable. It reminds me of the inside of a Cessna.

She's a movie star, isn't she?

The dance instructor.

The band leader. I took a ridiculous number of pictures of him. A fictional corner of my brain became infatuated. Fic may be committed.

Officer's quarters

Windows in the library in the General's quarters

Me in the General's quarters. This whole thing was weird, because you could go look around the first lfoor of the house, with it's nice drapes and all, but it had no furniture, was, in fact totally empty. It felt like house hunting, but of another who and when and was probably one of the weirder moments of the whole day for me. I kept opening up the closets and cabinets like you would do in such circumstances.

A safe in the dining room of the General's quarters.

Hideous municipal art.

Roses.

The less glamorous housing.

My one Descensus shot of the day.

The first time I walked by this church it did nothing for me. The second time, it kind of choked me.

So we went inside. All the pews had been removed. The only thing there was this child's chair.

The child's chair. I could not get the lighting right on this shot, so I hope you can see it.

What is it with me and sad tree shots?

The end.

Kat took this one. She's good, yeah?

Breathtaking day. All parties pictures (yourself included) looking ever so dapper.

And no, that is not a sad tree shot. But then, trees make me irrationally happy.

Wow, yet another cool place I must see on my future trip to NY.

Ekatarina, who hearts your pictures

That lone child's chair really got to me. I kept imagining scenarios concerning its being there.

So Glam!

The last picture of you is absolutely stunning. If I wasn't so respectful of your privacy rights, I'd take it and make it a userpic.

Who is the gorgeous creature in the vintage hat in the third picture? Movie star, yes indeed!

Nice white ducks.

I don't know who your stunning passenger is, but once again you seem to have won.

Also, Cessna has two ses in it.

The pants look very swank on you. Looks like a lovely day.

As the caretaker of a baby, those stone babies seem extra creeeepy.

Otherwise, this looks like it was lots of fun (and I'm a little jealous I couldn't turn up in NY for it.) :)

Neat pictures! The baby statues are seriously creepy though.

btw..I hope you don't mind me saying so..but you look hot in the boy clothes!

How lovely! And it looks like the weather was quite gorgeous.

You look amazing and perfect for the era.

That last picture in particular is gorgeous. You should be allowed to lean on anybody's car.

[identity profile] sykii.livejournal.com 2008-06-08 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The babies are orders of magnitude creepier without context here. Wow.
And how is it that I never realized until yesterday what a hot accessory a megaphone can be? ;)

There's something about that first photo of you that reminds me of Hemmingway. You exude something akin to "expat writer in a foreign country" which, if I understand correctly, is very much a possibility for your future.

That shot of the church and child's chair makes me think of the Omen movies, I hear Carmina Burana in the background.

So very Gatsby. I'm particularly enamored of the b&w of you in the car, and the last one.

Also, the Officer's Quarters must be my house one day. Lovely, lovely location.

The photos have a very otherworldly quality about them.

Hey, no longer a teenager! now you're a 21 year old fellow.
