- When 88 degrees means the heat has broken, life is a little cruel.
- The iPod is working again. And, having added
airspaniel's awesome Torchwood playlist to my awesome Torchwood playlist I am a very happy girl.
- Fencing tonight.
- Terrible work schedule over the next five days.
- I have an extra ticket to the Regency Ball in NYC on June 28. $20. Let me know if you want.
- I know I mentioned letters from Patty last night, but letters from Patty! Mailing another to her today.
- Worked on book with Kali yesterday. Now that we've rewritten the religious history of Western Europe for the last 2000 years five times, I think we've solved the problem. That we've managed to do this while constantly interrupting the conversation to say something about as cogent as "Jack -- oh my god!" or "Chris Eccleston!" isn't just surprising, it's alarming. Now we just need named for everything.
- Saw my parents last night. This revolved around them insisting I had dyed my hair again when I haven't (this is the parental version of people insisting I am ten years younger than I am when I'm not) and my mother being confused when I told her I think Keith Olbermann is hot.
Let's pause for a moment to discuss how that can be possible, shall we? Because the ideas of general aesthetic appreciation, wishing I looked that good in a suit, bisexuality (a term I'm admittedly less enthused about these days but is useful to the discussion) and hey, his sentence structure turns me on were really lost on her. Although she thinks he's hot too. But she's straight, so that's apparently not confusing.
On the plus side, at least they always ask about Patty now and like stories about us being cute and romantic.

Date: 2008-06-11 02:42 pm (UTC)My mom has no trouble with homosexuality, but bisexuality, even female bisexuality is beyond her.
This information comes to light, usually at family dinners with her best friend. They insist that a) people have to choose ::eyeroll::, and that b) if they, in their thirty-odd years of friendship, and mutual appreciation for each others' beauty never wanted to have a romantic relationship, no one else possibly could have the same happen. (Which is extra funny, because thinking on it, my friendship with Hilary is most similar to their friendship. Heh.)
I think--I hope it's a generational mental block. I can't entertain the alternative, because it will just make me angry.

Date: 2008-06-11 04:01 pm (UTC)God, I have a one track mind these days.
Did you watch the youtube thingy?

Date: 2008-06-11 04:05 pm (UTC)And yeah, watched the thing this morning. Wow, so like, at some point Rose needs to pause from the "omg, what" of the regeneration and be like "but Jack...." which is a moment we definitely need fic for since canon bungled it.
Also, there's a bit of new TW news out. Nothing spoilery, but when they say the new season is going to turn Jack's life upside down, I'm just like "oh god, not more!" Poor bastard!

So yeah.

Date: 2008-06-11 04:45 pm (UTC)In other news, it's official I've hooked Alan and Doctor Who. He insisted on staying up past midnight last night to watch the David Tennant video diary on the special features disc, I've caught him searching for John Barrowman on youtube, and just this morning he sent me an update on Billie Piper's newest tv gig (a show that revolves around her being a call girl).

Date: 2008-06-11 05:00 pm (UTC)While he will never involve himself in any fandom, I'm glad that he will at least know what I'm talking about when I make various DW or TW references. I'm hoping to cultivate something akin to how he is knowledgeable enough about HP to know what an unbreakable vow is but scared enough of fandom to let it remain my world.

Date: 2008-06-11 05:24 pm (UTC)I think his fascination with Barrowman is primarily for his past singing career (and the fact that he's married to an architect). He has only seen the first three episodes of Torchwood and isn't terrible invested in the character yet. I'm going to reintroduce it to him soon, I just can't bombard him with too many things at once. He's latched onto Doctor Who and that's good enough for me right now.
