You've budgeted a certain obscene amount of money for a vacation. Like what you want to spend and what you could go up to if need be,

Due to the shitty economy, you discover you can book that trip for 25% less than your original budget and about 40% off of your absolute high-end total.

Then you discover that because of the shitty economy, if you go back to maxing out your "want to spend" number, you can upgrade to serious motherfucking luxury (and not have a balcony obstructed by life boats).

Do you do it?

And I have to decide today.

Life is short, love is hard to find, and a memory lasts forever.
OF COURSE YOU DO IT!

Of course! Just ask yourself, WWJD: What Would Jack Do? (Not to be confused with WWJD: Who Would Jack Do? which is a much longer list of options...)

Upgrade! Why not get something positive out of the economic climate! :D

If the rest of your life's budget didn't go into the crapper along with the economy, then hell yes. Motherfucking luxury is something that should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Take notes.

Everything I've heard about cruises (which is what that sounds like) suggests that you won't regret upgrading one bit. So I'd say yes :-)

Yes! Do it! You won't be spending more than you actually planned to, in order to get more than you expected originally. Sounds like a winning proposition to me!

YES! Make it worth the time and energy it takes to get there.

Hah -- no time and energy. Cruise leaving from NYC.

Cruises are generally a once in a lifetime thing. The practical side of me wants to say "no", but ya know, if spending the same amount of money means you get more and it doesn't affect anything else you've budgeted for (and say, you didn't budget against something else that needed attention more) then I'd say Hell Yeah..go for it. :)

Nope. You have just as much fun with a few lifeboats out the window.

YES.

Now go forth and upgrade!

It's still time off of work, time she can't be at a dig, time you can't accept for an acting role that might fall in your lap.....

And travel is always energy, packing, figuring out how to take care of the pets, I'm sure there will be Parent stress....

I say go in style.

If you've already budgeted the money and don't foresee your own income going to hell because of the current crisis I say go for it.

If for no other reason that if people continue to do things like this it feeds money back into the economy which is one of the things that will help it get back onto its feet.

Besides, we only pass this way once, might as well enjoy it while it lasts:-)

No way. Saving money is the better bet, at this point.

Honestly? I'd save the money. Sock it away for emergencies or else blow it on extra souvineirs of the trip. :)

Well, others have pretty much said what I would. My practical side says take advantage of the poor economy and save yourself even more money. But on the other hand, if you've already budgeted and can find more luxury for your original budget, I'd say that's a good time to take advantage of the poor economy!

Oh dear. I just got a whole slew of terrible ideas from this.

I think my 18-month dry spell of no-fic-ideas has just been smashed. Thank you! ;)
