Patty's in the hospital in Oman with pneumonia. She seems to be doing better, but there's no sense of when she'll be released yet -- I'm guessing Wednesday or Thursday. Then it seems likely at this point she'll be sent home from the dig early and then we'll have to figure out if she's coming here or to Ohio or what.

Obviously, I'm quite worried about her, but I think it's clear at this point she's going to be just fine, and she's rather disappointed at this turn of events.

More as I know it.

It's a shame it means being shipped home early; it sounds as though the dig itself was great.

On the other hand, while I'm sure the medical care in Oman is excellent, one would rather not have her somewhere that she's likely to be reinfected with whatever bug she's recovering from. Not to mention, breathing sand and dust can't be good for a recovering pneumonia patient.

Well, I think we'll just have to see what makes the most sense. If she's really weak, I'm not sure how great the 4th floor walk up is for her right now, and I go to Los Angeles over valentine's day weekend. We also don't know when she will be well enough to trvael. I think the plan that makes sense in my hea is that she comes here until I leave for LA, then goes to her parents for a while (which she always does after a dig anyay) and then rejoins me in New York a couple of weeks later.

Oh trust me, I am. But I don't want to put any pressure on her. I don't have the close relationship with my family she has with hers, so I try to be respectful about the balancing. She'd have to stop in NYC to get to Ohio anyway, and it's such a long trip anyway, this is why I think breaking it up like this might make the most sense.
