Date: 2009-05-20 05:24 pm (UTC)CCTV does not reduce crime, except in car parks, and then mostly if there's added lighting and actual security guards.

Perp:most criminals think they are too clever to get caught, and most aren't. Criminals do not have good problem solving skills.
Erroneous name presumption: U.S. habit that is the most made of fail. Grr.
Writing: Looking forward to.

Date: 2009-05-20 07:07 pm (UTC)I have had several teachers make fusses about it, and my sixth grade teacher absolutely refused to call me Tina because it was inappropriate to use nicknames in an educational setting. I finally had to bring in my birth certificate, and even then, she refused, saying she couldn't help it my parents chose to give me a nickname. Turned into a meeting with the principal on that one.
Strangely, I get Lisa a lot, too. No idea why. Four letters, same vowels in the same spot...I've had it so much over the years, I practically answer to both. But NOT to Christina :)
Fight for the right to use your proper name...

Date: 2009-05-20 07:23 pm (UTC)Seriously? My own (RL) name as commonly used is a contraction of the full one, and I never got any flak over it, not from the teachers. (Mind you, I was in a class with an Asian girl who gave the teachers initial difficulties in pronouncing the first name... all sorted out v. quickly tho'.)
