Rapperswil

I got obsessed with these little iron hanging signs, which I suppose indicate clear specific things. This one has a knight.

This one has a plain gold horse.

This one has some sort of golden bird.

Today was marketing day.

Marketing day from the other end of the market.

Balconies

More balconies.

Building mural of the three Wise Men.

Home of the tiny, tiny hotel room.

Patty loves the idea of having a turret to read in. Rapperswil (and also Zurich) is full of them.

Ivy and berries growing wild on the side of the steps leading up to the church that dominates Rapperswil.

Rooftops and gardens leading up to the church.

I noticed this little nook outside the church with a votive in it and went to investigate.

This small statue and a candle was what I found inside.

Coming down from the church I saw this massive cat. Like, not fat, but I kid you not, twice the size of what I think of as a normal cat.

Tiny hotel room is tiny. Yes, that is a plush whale shark on the bed. We have that and a plush bat ray on our bed at home, so Patty had me take what we call the Happy Whale (the other is Smiling Ray) with me.

Me in the Ianto Jones memorial pinstripe suit with mint green shirt and another tie I favor. I find other ties I like, but the only ones I really wind up partial to on me are stripes. So it goes.

Back in Zurich they are setting up the Christmas market. Here is the tree, covered in stuff by Swarovski.

A few holiday booths have opened by a department store.

Everywhere there are sellers of roasted peanuts and chestnuts and hazelnuts. I've noticed that the Italian word for chestnut is the dominant word on all the signage, which is interesting since the Italian is mostly hard to find here if it's used at all.
