They're Communists and believe everyone is equal under the law no matter who you are.
When the monarchy was abolished, the federal government retired the King, as in, they fired him. He's got a retirement fund last I hears, though that could be a rumour.
Not that that is the actual answer, but it is a part of it, I think.
