why I watch Doctor Who

If you do watch the show, you'll find this a bit too shippy and too focused on Rose over Martha and Donna, but, this utterly, utterly captures why I love this show nonetheless. If you have not finished the main part of Rose's arc, this has spoilers. If I'd never seen the show before, this would make me watch it, and having just been in London it's a gut punch for me like it wouldn't have been a couple of weeks ago.

And she's got plenty more vids, all of them very shiny indeed - although I think this one might be the best, just because the way it manages to encapsulate all the different elements of the show: The Timelord, the companions (because Rose's story, in that voice over, is every companion's story), the Hero, the monsters.

(Which reminds me - you've seen Tenth Doctor: The Musical, right? (Dunno how much you were able to keep up with whilst away.) Oh my show, oh Ten! ♥

I've seen the links to it, but haven't yet found myself in the right mood to watch it (I started to, but it was silly in places and I wasn't feeling silly) so I've put it on hold.

What I love about this vid is that it's totally comfortable being a movie trailer over a music video, and that makes me really happy, as that's sort of where my interest lies as an audience member for vids.

I'm six months older than Doctor Who (though it was considered too scary for me until number three) and I've watched it at every opportunity. It broke my heart when it was effectively cancelled, but the revival and the success and the... well, flourishing of the new Who is a joy. It's like an old, old friend coming back into your life.

Hello, I've wandered over to your journal looking for some different thoughts on Children of Earth - I remembered you'd said some things I agreed with when it aired last year. Anyway, this video really made me tear up - lovely. Especially the first bit with the voiceover from that kid from The Family of Blood or whatever those episodes were called.

I've been enjoying reading about your adventures in the UK too - it's always really interesting to see what tourists make of it here! It's awful that you had that bad experience in that restaurant though.
