Gattaca is a very personal movie for me (I've written a ridiculous number of posts about it), because I have a heart condition, and, among other things, swimming has had a weird prominence in the narrative of my life. I saw the film alone, at midnight, the day it opened, and then sat all night in a cafe talking to someone who has since become a minor celebrity and was at the time a vague friend about it when we ran into each other on the street after and I couldn't shut up.

I never saved anything for the way back.
