I'll admit that when I rode the bus a lot, I really didn't know anyone with allergies. That said, a lot of times when I offered my lunch instead of cash (didn't have a lot of cash at that time) I was often cussed out. It can make you feel cynical about giving to someone.

I'm more apt to give money to someone I know or someone on my friends list rather than the random stranger. Or to an organization.
