Title: One More Bad Plan
Fandom: Torchwood/Covert Affairs crossover
Pairing: Auggie/Jack, mention of Auggie/Joan
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Torchwood, none (although assume set post-CoE); Covert Affairs, the currently un-aired 1.7 spoiled here.
Author's Notes: I've been trying to write a Jack/Auggie fic forever. And it's been completely frustrating me. This isn't that story, but this is somehow connected to that (much, much dirtier) story that I will eventually figure out how to write and finish. Also, Auggie/Joan? Y/Y? Someone's got to be on that page other than me, yeah?
“Nice ink,” Jack says, ghosting his fingers over Auggie's back.
“Thanks.”
“When you'd get it done?”
“Nice way of asking the hard one.”
Jack shrugs and stretches his legs so that his toes dig into one of Auggie's ankles.
“After I got out,” Auggie says, tempted to shove Jack's feet away, but not bothering.
“So you've never --”
“Yeah. It was raised for a couple of weeks after, but even I'm not that flexible; could only catch the edge of it.”
“Who went with you?”
Auggie nods, because that question's actually astute as opposed to obvious. Jack's good at this, but Auggie's not sure if by this he means the pillow talk or what is clearly the man's method for getting the story on whoever he's fucking.
“Joan,” he says eventually.
Jack's breathing pauses for a moment, and he remains silent.
“Not what you expected to hear,” Auggie says, knowing that maybe his voice sounds just a little like he's waiting for Jack's disapproval.
“No. Thought it would be a couple of your guys.”
“Or a girlfriend?”
“Something like that.”
“Boyfriends in Tikrit – not really the best plan.”
“Yeah, I tend to ignore best plans,” Jack says.
Auggie shrugs. “Hey, your funeral.”
“So you and Joan?”
“Mmmmmhmmmm,” Auggie says stretching now himself and kicking a leg over Jack's. It's obvious the sex was really good. Jack can practically feel the memory of it next to him.
“Went on for a while, huh?”
“Six months? Something like that.”
“Arthur know?”
“No idea. When we're in the same room, I assume yes; when we're not, I assume no.”
Jack chuckles. “And now?”
“What? Joan?”
“Yeah.”
Auggie considers for a moment. “Complicated. Fond. Really, really infuriating.”
“You still into her?”
“You always act like a pain-in-the-ass boyfriend with your random hookups?”
“Part of my charm.”
“I'll keep it in mind.” Auggie pauses. “Joan recruited me. Joan, however, also treats me like a child. So me and Joan are between me and Joan.”
Jack nods thoughtfully. “That's fair.”
“Glad you approve,” Auggie says, irritated in a way it's easy to be only with someone you like too much.
“It really is nice ink.”
Auggie rolls over onto his back so Jack can't see it anymore. He closes his eyes for a moment, and huffs out a sigh. “Jack?”
“Yeah?”
“How 'bout we talk about something I have, instead of something I don't?”
Before Jack can answer, Auggie rolls on top of him, knowing what the answer should, will, be.
“Oh. Yeah. Please,” Jack gasps, right on cue and playing it up even as he hardens against Auggie's thigh.
Auggie laughs. He's so glad they understand each other, even if this whole thing is absolutely the worst idea he's had in a while.
