The news article about the gay Arab dance club was interesting; thank you for linking! I was really sad though when the bit about the Islamic Cultural Center of New York came up, and the imam said gays are welcome “[b]ut we don’t need to know about their sex lives”. I had to stop reading for a moment. I honestly don't understand what that means. What does sex mean nowadays? Is the imam ok with hand holding, hugging and kissing? What about just standing very close together or leaning on each other? DADT really is about shutting down lines of communication, an attempt to make people comfortable by just not bringing it up. Does it even work ? I expect it makes everyone except for the most oblivious uncomfortable...
