Two very brief things that sum it all up.

religious explanation )

geek explanation )

On a more lucid occassion I'm sure I'll expound on one or the other and why the movie makes very very clear that this is in fact the case.

Also, one second viewing, I realized that the answer to _everything_ is in the first 60 or so seconds of the film. Very fucking clever.

Additionally, I would strongly recommend a quick google on the Merovingian for anyone looking to unravel the film's mythology.

Everyone who dissed the first movie as simplistic mainstream Christian allegory was seriously wrong.

"Call us mad. Call us, dare we say, dreamers. What we were thinking about at the party for "The Matrix Reloaded" on Wednesday night was how the story would play as a musical. A net of nude human batteries caught in a weblike matrix in the opening scene. Neo, the hero who will save mankind, training with the mentor Morpheus, singing, "Any Kung Fu You Do, I Can Do Better."
I promise to eventually shut up about the Matrix. I was just feeling very very smart last night.

Meanwhile, I have a very very ridiculous job interview today that I will explain when it either comes to fruition or not.

Regrettably, I also have the cramps from hell.

Also -- now that my brain has clicked in -- get to pick up my headshots today, which will then be brought to the retoucher, which will then be brought to reproductions. And then.... well, who knows, right?

It is a true thing of writers, that our internal narratives are either what keep us alive, or drive us mad. I was always told my narratives were poison and childish, but I've not turned out at all like those who have said such things for me. Which makes me wonder if comtempt is an inevitable feature of all situations which embody dichotomies.

I have retrieved the larger prints of my headshots. They need more retouching than I'd hoped, but less than I'd feared. Additionally, the one with the closed mouth smile absolutely has the energy I thought it did -- I look at it, and I believe, and once the retoucher is through with it, I will be a joyous and happy person.

On the way home from retrieving them, I saw a homeless person holding up a sign written in black magic marker on a piece of cardboard box. It read: "Nicole Kidman won't date me because I don't have a home. Please help."
