My eyes feel gritty and vile from the makeup used for the film today. I can't seem to scrub them enough. Someone in the CDS showcase was also in the film, and we caught up, but it's really turned my head around that he was there... just because he's so much more talented and experienced and marketably attractive than I am. We wound up in a little clique that's conversations mostly revolved around summer programs at places that end in A -- NIDA, RADA, AMDA, etc. As far as, "we're actors having conversations that are probably fundamentally mildly irritating to us all", it wasn't so bad. And the director, while probably needing to learn to be clearer with his actors (I got the sense that he, like me, uses language precisely and uniquely, and then can't figure out why people don't get exactly what he's talking about) -- he did at least have a vision, a plan, a crew and an organizing principle that got us done with the shoot an hour early, and considering it was in an un-heated art gallery, I'm very grateful for that.
I'm increasingly feeling like changing my professional name. This is agitating to me, but I am sick of being asked why I chose Racheline for a stage name (it's my name!), being called Rachel by PAs, and Rashalee by people who just aren't paying attention. And directors always call me Maltese because it always sticks in their minds better, it seems, which is understandable, too bad it makes me feel like a yappy dog. And I know this sounds diva-ish and pissy, but it's really very simple. I am very knowledgeable about advertising, branding and marketing, and also very passionate about it -- if people can't cope with the product name -- you goddamn fix it.
A major stressor is resolved in a way I believe to be satisfactory.
