I posted this awesome giddy audioblog post about the new HP movie, and it decided not to show up. Feh.
Anyway, the film is fantastic. Funny as hell, and scary. And really moving in a lot of places. Like the books (and unlike the first two films) it really works on two levels -- both the actual story and all the wink-wink nudge-nudge inuendo. Emotionally, it even works better in the book in places.
And for all you Remus fans (and I was always fond of him but never got what the fuss was about), David Thewlis is ridiculously charming in the role. Simply lovely. Now I get it.
And talk about hearing 10,000 keyboards clicking through the whole thing. You know that whole "werewolf is a metaphor for gay" theory, that I've always been like "hey, sure, that works, whatever, but that's fannon not cannon" about? Well, I take that back. Remus is gay gay gay gay gay gay. Gay! I'm sorry, but the music and the shoes alone. Trust me, when you see it, you'll know what the hell I'm talking about.
Also, all the kids are way too good looking. It's sort of bizarre. And Draco is such a girl!
Also, that page 394 business is the funniest shit ever.
Anyway, Curon is a genius. And Chris Columbus should be ashamed of himself for not having the faintest clue what to do with the first two films.
