[livejournal.com profile] miep is on my couch.

My mom has become a big fan of the singer Antony, who is trans (apparently male bodied, apparently identifies as female, is described as "he" all over the Internet, I just hope I've got the pronouns right). I don't think she's figured this out yet, and eventually, I will have to explain it to her. I suppose after the whole Prince fixation, she had to go somewhere.

Oh God, fencing AGAiN today?

Too many errands.

The Fall of the Kings is interesting. As Kali said, these characters are so much more mortal. I have, thus far, a lot of compassion for Theron. It does really seem to be quite a pain in the ass to be him. I was quite moved by his interaction with the girl in library where he talks about Richard's ghost.

The problem of Kushiel's Dart is that I want to talk about it in a meaningful way, but I'm not sure how. It's so thick with mythology, that by the time I explain what I want to talk about it's already next Thursday.

I got this Leonard Cohen tribute concert DVD thing for Christmas and it has this insane Rufus Wainright performance of Everybody Knows on it, that seems lighter than the song usually is, but about thiry seconds into it you realize is the darkest thing you've ever heard. Fascinating.

OMG, it's hell not responding to Yuletide feedback, mainly because it's making my mailbox go explodey.

explodey

So I am trudging up the stairs to my place after fencing last night and there's red splashed everywhere.

Not blood, as the brain must immediately think when one is trudging anywhere after waving a sword aorund for a few hours, but paint. Car paint. Stinky, fumey, we're all going to die of suffocation car paint. Some idiot dropped a can of it in the stairwell, bam! EVERYWHERE and made no effort to clean it up. We opened all the windows in the house and put a towel against the door so the fumes wouldn't get in. We should have thought to open the windows in the stairwell, but it slipped my mind.

Today, it stinks less and someone removed the paint can, but it's still wet and still EVERYWHERE.

[livejournal.com profile] gina_r_snape just posted about her bento box, and you know what, I really need one, but I want a more traditional, square one for bringing lunches to work.

Where do I find one online? Criteria, as above, also, not the ugly one "in primary colors as seen on Rachel Ray" that's all over the Internet. Finally, at least some inner compartments must be microwaveable.

Thnx.
