sundries

If you need anything from me today and/or have sent me email in the last several days -- don't count on it being addressed today. I will be upstate for a client dealing with boiler repair guys and carpet swatches.

I was good and did practice fencing briefly last night. Something is better than nothing. Meanwhile I am being marginally hard on myself about my own attitudinal crap in the salle, that in the endless stuff I've been writing about this, I haven't actually written about, but it's all there for those reading those posts. Ah well, hopefully I'm done being Tina the Troubled Teen for now.

There was apparently snow this morning that I missed.

This weekend I have to write, as per usual, a couple of articles -- one very possibly on the photography show that contains portraits of some of the people I fence with; hopefully this will force me to be cogent about the eerie juxtaposition of hooded falcons and sometimes masked fencers.

I also need to make time sometime next week to go see Babel since I have a pass that's only valid in the SAG Awards voting period.

My review of Children of Men is on the Gather homepage today, and it is interesting to note how many comments it is getting, more than usual. They have my photo up with it as opposed to a film still, and I do wonder if this is the reason -- because people want to talk to the girl. I've had lots of stuff on the gather home page about stuff just as pop culture hot but with studio stills and gotten not even half so much traffic. But I am vain and should shut up now. Eventually, I so need photos of myself fencing. I mean, once I can actually fence ;) Snapshots in detroit if nothing else.

Tomorrow I have work during the day and then pubtasticness. It is probably good for me to spend the day being employed dealing with suburban life, even if I do just want to noodle on the computer talking about -- actually, I don't know how to explain the conversation I was going to reference, so never mind. But it involved both peak oil and Swordspoint references, as if you needed proof that I'm probably crazier than you (because the celebration of wizardly birthdays and the endless litany of Obscure Hobbies I have Known apparently hasn't tipped you off yet).

Meanwhile, Kali has sent me the most awesome bit of Descensus EVAR, and hopefully I can toss my next chunk back her way in the next day or so and we can have a major chapter installment for you soon. We are also working elsewhere in the timeline on something that's been making us both cry madly. I cry all the time, so that's not worth noting. She's not a crier though, so it's bloody SAD.

Finally, I'd really like the stuff from Gather confirming the thing I posted about yesterday. I know it's a done deal, but these things make me nervous.

Wow, I had more sundries than previously anticipated.
