My real review:

Which I fully admit is sort of a love letter to Javier Bardem.

ETA: or not. I'll be back up in a few weeks. The studio wants reviews held, despite the fact the film was released abroad last year.

- It is hot.

- Athienou has email! Which is almost weird, as I've gotten so into the habbit of this letter writing thing. But what a nice relief.

- I am starting to think it is not realistic for me to [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90 on fencing nights. The scene I have to write next is very long though, so I may manage to make up the word count there. Either way, I'm having a good poductive week and am past the 30% mark.

- My finger is bleeding.

- Despite the fact I will not subject myself to the Scholastic HP street fair the day the last book is released, OMG, giant animatronic Whomping Willow! Hey everyone, it's all over now, get hit by a tree!

- Paris Hilton: still not news. Who JibJab is making fun of: definitely not news.

- More than half the people polled think homosexulity is genetic? I realize this is suppose to be a big, exciting, "folks are becoming less hateful" thing, but you know what? everyone is pretty sure you can't change the color of your skin and that never stopped folks from being racist. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be excited.

- Argh! Random noises make a lot of things better.

- Maple candy.

- Work and work and heavy stuff to schlepp today.

- Tractors with jet engines and other Americana I don't understand: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/28/us/28tractor.html

- Finally, the Terminus call for papers opens this weekend. And while one of my proposals hinges on the events of the final book (those who came to "Daddy, I Want to be a Death Eater" and heard me go off about collaborators, know of what I speak), the most insane of the proposals, "A Fictional History of Duelling" doesn't, and, as such, I should try to write that up shortly. I will also resubmit the improv workshop from PR, since people liked it so much (although cutting it down to 1.5 hours from 2, since everyone had a better grasp of things than I originally suspected they would).

if I am ignoring your comments, it's because LJ is not sending them to me.

Does the growing general cultural awareness of slash fiction, specifically in the context of fanfiction, cause gay-themed original professional literature, especially, but not limited to, that written by women featuring men (although not necessarily exclusively) to be taken less seriously? And is this phenomena more or less present in particular genres?

Origin: In speaking to someone in passing about my novel this weekend, they said, "it's not slash is it?" in a tone I interpretted to mean that as such it couldn't be "real" or "serious literature." As a queer woman, my world especially my created world, both within and outside of my book, is a queer world. This is what turns me on. This is what turns me on. And in the damn loins is the last thing I mean.
Today was one of those days where work kept expanding to fit the space available, which was actually fine.

I'm going to practice, a bit, I think, as whatever made me miss class on Monday, it's opposite is now on me, and I wish I had people to practice with in the park on a whim, but you know, my kitchen will have to do.

Then [livejournal.com profile] novel_in_90; bed by 1, ideally, and then up, probably earlier than I'd like tomorrow, as I simply don't lseep in summer, and that's convenient as I've lots to do.

LJ = still sucking with the comment delivery.

Also, am now in possession of first mosquito bite of the seaon.

Apple's dominance is not actually about the quality or innovation, although they've got both going on. Rather, it's about the accuracy of their design. Apple nails what we always thought the future would look like.
