more dress

I've been dreaming sewing every night for teh last week, and have come up with dress solutions each time. I'm going to use a gausy scarf, not a ribbon, and that should fix and hide everything, and I'll pin it in at the center with something ornamental.

I also think I diagnosed how the problem occured. One -- I never tend to use my full seam allowances. Two -- Um, Regency dresses kinda do look like potato sacks and I didn't help my cause by using heavy fabric. Three -- I never remember to make allowances for the fact that a pattern top cut based on my bust measurement will never, ever account for how tiny my ribcage is and the fact that my breasts are, for lack of a better description, close to the rest of my body in a way that isn't exactly typical of my cup size.

All of this said, I don't have that much work to do tonight... sew teh two halves together, seam the top, hem the bottom, put in the plackett and fastenings, and then fix it all up. Totally doable. Lunchtime errands -- a trip to La Crasia for gloves, acquiring said random gauzy scarf, and curlers.

Train sewing -- retticule and ribbons on slippers.

I can do anything given too little time, and that's pretty alarming.
