Well, I do have to admit, that I was less than completely fair (rhetoric is a useful tool). I failed to mention that, as a centrist, I chose my affilitation because I thought they bore the most watching.

So I get to try and keep them from fieling wackos and nut-jobs for office.

I had to be somewhere, or I had to give up participation.

I don't think I've been very pro-republican in much of my political life. I've yet to cast a vote that went to the man in the White House, having decided, in years when I knew the outcome of my state, to cast advisory votes for third parties (in the hope the winner would look at the tallies).

I've since decided that's a wasted effort, and foolish to boot, because all it does is encourage them to run for national office, at which they have no chance of success.

Better they should spend that money on a district in play, and get someone into the house (or senate, from a small state) and work to becoming a real third party.

But it does give me chops, 19 years as a registered republican, and I use it to beat up on politicians I think are doing something stupid (a la H.R. 10, but I digress).
