While I've been aware of Tilda Swinton forever, I've never actually read or seen an interview with her before, and I want more more more, for reasons that become obvious in reading this.

I'm interested in the idea of her being called "Sir" not because she looks like a man, but because it's hard for peopel to imagine a woman looking the way she does.

Excellent article, she is a fascinating performer and I loved her answers to the questions about constructed characters and androgyny.

You, of all people ever, must see "Orlando" if you haven't already done.

While Orlando is the film she usually gets mentioned for, The Deep End (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250323/maindetails) may be a better example of what she can bring to a role. My wife broke into applause when she lashed back at the blackmailer (Goran Visnjic) urges her to "try harder" to come up with the money. "How exactly am I supposed to 'try harder'?" she challenges him.

The film as a whole has problems, but Swinton is terrific at refusing to let her character be a victim. Margaret is a woman being fucked with, and she's not shy about letting the culprits know it.

Have you heard Dido's "I've still got sand in my shoes"? If not, you should listen to it...reminds me of your relationship with Sydney. >^.^
