(no subject)

In terms of my energy levels, I feel a lot better. And I did eat a little solid food last night. My intestines are still at war though, and as I get when I'm sick, as I'm so rarely sick, the whole awful thing is making me nervous (in the lame vein of the pepto bismol box says to call a doctor if the systems persist for more than two days -- well, I've never had a stomach flu where they didn't!). I woke at at 5:30am, in pain and ate enough yogurt to take tylnol for the whole menstral cramp thing, which also helped. But the combination of that and being sick is just downright confusing.

I"m going to work now.

Sometimes anti-biotics can kill off the good bacteria in your intestines. You should be able to pick something up to restore the balance at a health food store, but I can never remember what they call it.

I think the comment above was referring to acidophilus.

Yup it was. Yogurt should do the same thing, just more gradually, which I can life with, because acidopholus is NASTY (and a particular childhood horror for me).

If your stomach is cramping really badly, try some Immodium Advanced AD, it does wonders on things like stomach flu and even just cramps without any symptoms.

I recommend the pills though, the chewable and liquids are just *gross*.

I'll second the pills over the other forms. vondow pops the stuff like candy at the first sign of intestinal distress. When I've tried it things do get better, so may be worth a try.

I have had an awful reaction to antibiotics I took for 'bronchitis'... Zithromax or something like that.

Lovely gi symptoms, major pain on the left side... like menstrual cramps, diarrhea, oy.

It's hard to believe that these pills are worth the effects they caused.

I have been eating a lot of yogurt too... seems to help?

Hope you feel better too.

this was just amoxicillian, but yeah, that about covers it.

How long did it take for you to recover?

most of a week? But I have had a lot of stress involved also..

They are nasty on our bodies.
