It involves the mailing-list-that-must-not-be-named and my departure from it. It's sort of not interesting if you don't know the people involved. But it's just one of several examples I've found of Western buddhists having a really hard time with humility and in their enthusiasm for the ideals of the practice, treating those around them with judgement and contempt.
ANd I should add... I love Buddhism... I think it's insanely fucking smart about a lot of things -- I just think it clashes in some insecure people's heads with western life in really negative ways.
The purpose of a faith like buddhism isn't to give you security, but to remove the need for security. Ya know?
