A building exploded and collapsed on the Upper East Side this morning (62nd between Park & Mad). The news tells us it was a townhouse with a duplex apartment and a doctor's office (oxygen tanks?) and that it wasn't terrorism. As much as I may rant about the Upper East Side, that part of it is really something and deeply linked into my childhood and snobbery and I can't seem to tear myself away from the news.

ETA: Apparently it was a fucking suicide attempt?!?

the sirens were INCREDIBLE this morning (being 5 blocks down and a couple aves over meant EVERY fire truck that was near me screeched by my house). god help the people affected.

btw...now that I am back in town (at least until august when the latest show goes up) we seriously need to get together. email me about next week.
