costume stuff

The Germans will be coming through with the rest of my money next week, which means I can order my Regency tailcoat just in the nick of time. Meanwhile, am having my brain explode perusing various costume sites. It looks like I won't have to make my own breeches now, as there is a company that makes exactly the right thing in a boys size that will fit me exactly for the same price as the damn fabric would cost me. This is a great good thing. It also stops me from looking at all the fabulous trousers (not appropriate for evening wear) with buttons up the side of the legs. This is me stopping. Right now. I swear. Heavens. *fans self*.

I don't, apparently, really have to worry about shoes, because apparently men did carry dance slippers to balls and change into the things -- so my black dance shoes are already just fine.

and waistcoat, shirt and neck cloth are all within my sewing powers, if I just get off my ass and do it.

Not as much as I should, which is entirely a product of not having a dedicated sewing space. That said, once I resolve this waistcoast pattern, i'll probably do all of those myself (and many) from now on, because I like the high colars, which can't be found in shops randomly, and the no darts.

The new house has a Sewing Room

My wife has wanted a dedicated space for a long time so I am going to build a legless table against the back wall and build in her Serger and regular machine.

That is very very cool.
