Regency Ball pics, 2

In which we are atmospheric

In which the point of hide-and-go-seek is being found

In which the coolest doors are often the ones that refuse to open, at least by conventional means

In which I am trying not to be freaked out by a bee that has just landed on the flower Kali insisted I examine

In which I am short

In which there are ladies

In which we see the state of Kali's hair after the ball

In which you can see more of the outfit construction (click here for a larger one with more details: http://pics.livejournal.com/rm/pic/000cctff). Sidenote: the shirt is the most comfortable thing I have ever, ever, ever owned and fits in with like 20 different obsessions of mine and I may have to have a lot more of them.

All of my clothing, btw, was done by Satin Shadow Designs.

Photos, as before, by Kali, except where they are of her.

You both look utterly fabulous. Just...wow. And I love the door picture; it seems very you.

Thank you!

Fantastic.

Both you and Kali look wonderful, and those clothes certainly do suit you. (No pun intended.)

Thank you.

The not really being able to move one's neck thing is a bit odd, and getting used to the way breaches fit (tight and baggy in exactly the opposite places as you'd expect) were both odd. But all in all, it felt extremely comfortable for me. I'm going to have to get daywear next.

The whole outfit looks marvelous, but I am especially covetous of your frock coat.

You both look wonderful, and it definitely looks as though you had a good time. :c)

Now that I am over the first rush of squeeing at the pretties, I am reminded to compliment Kali on her eye for a well-composed photograph.

If I thought I could match the color from here, I'd be tempted to mail her a Chinatown painted parasol. (While Regency ladies didn't always bother to color-coordinate, the one I have on hand is apple-green with pink paint and flowers, and would really hurt with that dress.)

Oh hell yes!

That last picture is indeed sex on legs.

The door one is my favorite, and should be used somewhere else. You are a gentleman.

[identity profile] miep.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
oooh.

yum. all of it. yum.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It is wild how well that outfit suits you. You both look quite charming and brilliant in these photos.

I saw these last night-SO GREAT!

This thing looks like SO much fun.

*wails in envy*

Uh, I mean... everyone looks lovely and it looks like you had a lovely time. :)

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thankyou, I will make sure she sees this. And adjusting to their sense of color can be very difficult.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

There are many photos I haven't posted that we'll actually be using for Descensus, but yes, we do sort of imagine there ought to be other/more uses for them as well.

thank you!

(also, getting to your email shortly).

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

So what do you think about the Gilderoy Lockhart idea?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

It was.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahah. Thank you!

[identity profile] tommx.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Very nice! You look awesome.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I love the Lockhart idea. Absolutely fabulous.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it work with the clothes?

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2006-10-17 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I would think so. Lockhart the young and slightly evil dandy.

[identity profile] chrisber.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
You look marvellous, and it's not just the clothes; you seem to have the right posture and body language, too. Plus I'm jealous that you had a whole weekend; I need to see if we can do more than just evening balls here in California.

I've also found my regency clothes to be extremely comfortable. Part of that is that they're tailor-made to fit me, and part is the all-natural materials, which breathe so well. Is your shirt linen?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2006-10-18 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I think it helps that I have danced (not Regency, just in general) for a long time. Also the clothes do force your posture a bit. Learning to dance in them has been a bit more challenigng than i thought it would be, however, but I'll probably wear the jacket to my next couple of classes and that should resolve the issue. I think the next Regency event I'll get to wear it all too is a tea dance in February, but I play to see what other excuses I can find for the wearing of it all.

My shirt is linen, and it's true, custom tailoring is just the greatest thing ever (I have other things that have been made especially for me, but are marginally more modern.)

This was our first full weekend event -- in the past we've just done the ball, but this time we added a gaming day with the stroll in the park, and it went very well. I t hink we had a bit over 20 people at that (compared with about 53 for the ball).
