barndance!

Barn Dance was awesome. Very crowded, very funny, less creepy people (although the old creepy guy who wanted a hug of course wanted to dance with meeeeeeeeeee!) evil 3-person basket swing remained. [livejournal.com profile] wordsofastory was terribly popular and watching everyone waltz to one of those unavoidably sad rural waltz songs at the end was both unutterably charming and appropriately melancholy. All of this was interspersed with stuff like "fencing is go," "the yaoi novel I should write," "things people from Ohio say," and "everything you ever wanted to know about boiling an entire duck (subtitle: at least it wasn't a monkey and where did they get those rabbits?)" Perhaps unwisely, after a hasty trademark New York "fly-be-free-your-public-transit-is-here-now-and-may-never-be-seen-again" goodbye I put her on an NYC bus for I think the first time. She may never get home, but if she does it will have been more convenient than the train.

I survived! Though I did get serenaded by some old drunk guy.

Hasn't it been like that every single time I've visited?

how did you get to be the old-creepy-guy magnet?

there is something vaguely odd and sad about a barn dance in manhattan. There aren't any barns there anymore.
