May. 8th, 2007 10:01 amAbout to bring my Phoenix Rising dry cleaning over to the cleaners (weirdly, I really enjoy the thought of bringing my big white billowy shirts to the laundress, mainly because my local dry cleanning lady thinks I'm a very amusing nutjob). Ordered the last minute stuff I need for my costumes and am genearally geting it together on that front (socks will be here just in time, also picking up from Alivan's on site). Laundry immanently.
Wrote my delayed Gather article for my column (any day that begins with a mention of Pluthero Quexos is pretty good). Will have to do another one in two days. And I still have to finish that damn mystery novel and review that as well as review a couple of CDs.
Realized I can get my compass rose tattoo now (as I had long wanted to do before PR), but I think I won't have time. So I'll probably do it sometime in June.
Feel less glutened poisoned than yesterday, but still ugh.
Need to email various Phoenix Rising people about various things, but I'll be in tonight doing web work so can get that done in the breaks later.
Need to pay for the Spanish Martial Arts weekend and get needed weapons for that as I won't have time after Phoenix Rising really to deal with any of that. Also need to cancel my hotel reservation for ISMAC since I decided I wasn't going to that.
I also need to worry about at least two slightly peculiar gift giving occassions, produce the Descensus flyers with Kali that I'm bringing down to PR and the like.
Okay, so this isn't in order at all, but at least crap is getting done.

Date: 2007-05-08 02:22 pm (UTC)Anyway, what type of products are you looking for (cookies, cakes, condiments, preservative free?) and I can recommend stuff. Also, do you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's near you?

Date: 2007-05-08 02:27 pm (UTC)I've also got Tonks, but I think I want to get a better wig if I'm going to do that.
No matter what, I've got my cloak. Oh boy, polar fleece in May in New Orleans!
(Hi, I'm batshit crazy...)
What is the swimming you're doing?

Date: 2007-05-08 03:16 pm (UTC)I'm mostly looking for things to eat on a daily basis. I have no idea what to do about lunches and dinners (especially since I have been eating out a lot). Like what does lunch look like for you?
And yeah, My stomach bloats out about 3-4 inches when I eat anything with gluten in it and then I feel really grossly "full" and uncomfortable. My doc said ideally I should go on a completely gluten and yeast-free diet to eliminate the gluten/stomach bloat issue and the candida overgrowth (my candida levels are around 400 when they should be no more than 150).

Date: 2007-05-08 06:54 pm (UTC)One of the hardest things about avoiding gluten is eating the right amount of fiber. Many replacement products either have no fiber or are made with brown rice and it's easy to have too much fiber. Try to track what you're consuming or you could feel very uncomfortable.
For total elimination of gluten it is important to remember that flour travels and contaminates easily, and many packaged goods, even if they contain no gluten ingredients may be potentially harmful. Cured meats often contain wheat fillers and it's important to buy organic for that reason.
Whole Foods has a great selection of gluten-free products and will order things in if they don't currently carry them. For pizza, pretzels and similar replacements Glutino products are very good. Whole Foods also does its own line of gluten-free breads and pastries that are excellent. Their freezer-case probably contains gluten-free waffles (oddly easy to find) and they probably have a decent selection of desserts (Food for Life makes good cookies as does Pamelas. Mi-del is middle range). Welshire Farms products gluten-free sausage and chicken nuggets.
I find that on a gluten-free diet I grave non-animal fats and eat much more coconut and avocado than I used to, but I don't know why.
Hidden gluten can be found in undistilled white vinegar, so check your condiments and in nearly all soy sauce (you can get wheat/gluten-free soy sauce at Whole Foods). In fact, fermented wheat is a huge part of Japanese food, and I would say that in America it is unsafe to eat anythign but sushi with your own soy sauce brought in (in Japan, tempura is made with rice flour, expanding options).
Does that help?
