Date: 2007-06-05 12:20 am (UTC)Also, I think the one major kink in their plan (aside from the lack of replacements for federal services, which is what will, at this point, take down any nascent secessionist government) is all of these people who will flock to the "Switzerland of North America", where are they going to live?
Because (if I remember correctly) Vermont has some of the toughest anti-development laws on the books.
They're also lacking direct access to the sea, which could lead to some trade difficulties, unless they could broker a deal with the Canadians and use the St. Lawrence seaway.
