I saw the preview for Troy last night. Not all of it looked great, but the opening shot of the boats, and the accompanying voice-over almost moved me to tears and looked astounding. But then I am all about scale.
I think that you and I are probably going to be in a complete daze when we finally see the preview of Luhrmann's Alexander movie. Because you're all about scale as much as I, and damn...
Yeah, and yeah, I had that thought watching that shot. It was the first time where I sort of got what he might be able to do with the whole thing.
It's also had me dwelling on the matter of the mysterious Russian epic, only because while I don't know squat about Russian history really, the one thing I do know about totally has that scale (and totally fits in with the range of shit the man obsesses on), which is Peter the Great. And that would just be too insane (another lovely childhood fixation of mine).
