oh, LJ, you have got to be joking me.

I got to www.livejournal.com while I'm logged in to see if [livejournal.com profile] news has been updated. It hasn't, but there's abomination of a control panel thing showing recent comments in my posts, actions on my friends list, etc. Which is all fine, except for the really gross part at the top featuring prompts for journal entries.

Just a few for your consideration:

"What are your favorite and least favorite words? Any reasons why?"

"What's the best birthday present you ever received?"

"How would you describe the face [livejournal.com profile] whitaker is making in his userpic?"

Dear LJ,

FUCK YOU. I am here to write about my day, my surly city, media and my relationship with it, the woman I adore currently on a sojourn in Cyprus, my friends, my creative work, my intolerable allergies, politics, AND WHATEVER STRIKES MY DAMN FANCY. And guess what, what's what I want to read about too. Hell, I'd rather wite about writer's block and read about writer's block than have anyone ever take your little questions that encourage faux discourse about noting at all. This would merely be a lame corporate moment if it weren't for your total sucktacularness in the last week. I mean really. You have got to be fucking joking.

I was fairly appalled.

Ugh. They've clearly taken that from Six Apart's other blog site, Vox. That features two daily prompts: one for text (Question of the Day) and one for images (Vox Hunt Challenge).

Oddly, this wasn't mentioned in detail in the latest [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases post (here (http://community.livejournal.com/lj_releases/19891.html)). It cropped up in passing, as: "New logged-in homepage, now out of beta".

Obviously they think we are less than mentally challenged and need prompting. If only I had known I wouldn't have blown 50k on college.

sucktacularness is one of my favorite words.

W!T!F! Isweartogod that was not there two hours ago.

And no way to alter it to suit my tastes. I wanted to see the news, and not much else, not all this cruft.

Meanwhile, where is the new, improved Vertigo? I'm back to using Dystopia.

Sigh, I see they're Still Not Getting It. If they want to plitter around and randomly change things they could try fixing the stupid and almost unusable links page. I updated my links the other day and was instantly reminded why I hadn't done it for about 2 years.

I reckon they've got about a day or so of grace left before I start getting a bit pointed again. If they post about the stupid permanent accounts sale on News before doing a Strikethrough update it could get... entertaining.

I'm starting to see where the phrase 'blows goats' comes from. Frank needs his horns shaved.
