Maybe this is why all the uber-irony makes me so sad. Sometimes it seems like no one fights for or against anything anymore. They just bitch and wink.

Gods yes. And most of all, they try to look like the latest horror, tragedy, or crime under discussion is both completely unsurprising and something that any hip and reasonable person should have expected all along, because it is massively uncool to ever be shocked by anything.

That looks like an impressive film, far more so than the other films dealing with real-world terrorism, which I have avoided because they all at their heart seemed deeply offensive in the way that so much of the US response to the recent internal and external madness has been.

Wow, what a profound and self-contained statement. Actually, two, and I daresay yours strikes me hardest. I may borrow that (always with attribution) and ponder it some more on my own. I can't even think of a clever way to say how true it is, but I definitely recognize the impatient glare of a fellow former-Washingtonian dotting its I's.
