HP7: fic thoughts

I don't have a lot of interest, I don't think in writing book 7 fic, except maybe the early adventures and education of Albus Severus, but not even.

That said, I keep coming back to the story formed by Snape's movie costuming combined with all that we know about Snape here at the end of the series.

I've always felt his clothes were narratively fascinating (serious kudos to the costuming people on the film), and we definitely have/will address them and the reasons for them over and over in Descensus.

I mean, do they speak of formality, insulation from his work, a need to hide the Dark Mark or just never, ever ever wanting anyone to touch him except those that he would willingly allow to have domain over him (canonically, Lily, fic-wise pretty much whomever you want)?

I mean, the clothes are a sad and beautiful thing, especially when you stretch the story back through the memories of The Prince's Tale.

Maybe, _maybe_ I'll eventually work up one of those really disturbing atmospheric pieces I do about it, but maybe I won't. It is something I'd like to see other people play with.

Man, in the realm of non-Descensus, Book 7 keeps putting me in mind of that crazy Snape/Hermione Voldemort victory fic I wrote a while ago.

The clothes are interesting. Petunia's crack about young Severus wearing one of his mother's old blouses broke my heart.

There's definitely something to the clothes, although Rowling is so rarely good on clothes - people seem to wear the same outfits all the time except for Lockhart, which can't be right for all of them, or maybe it's that Harry fails to notice these things unless like Lockhart they smack one in the face.

For me, the backstory added to Grindelwald is very interesting, less so the more personal stuff of the Dumbledores - or at least it hasn't driven me to write fic.

Yeah I think the Grindelwald stuff is some of the best stuff in the book.
