Has anyone else seen this show on Comedy Central? Is it totally old news? Why aren't you talking about the intense bizarreo factor of it?

I've seen it. I haven't said anything because I don't think it's particularly funny.

Then again, I don't think most of Comedy Central's programming is funny. So the show probably isn't aimed at me.

I'm not sure we thought it was funny either. But we couldn't look away.

*nod* I feel that way about Stephen Colbert, most of the time. I want him to be funnier. I watch, hoping he'll be funnier. But that doesn't happen very often.

When he's on his game, he's hilarious. But his "outraged neoconservative" schtick rapidly gets old. I always get the feeling he's trying too hard.

I've seen commercials for it but not seen an episode, so I really have nothing to say about it.

Li'l Bush, have only glanced at. Decided that it had no humor value, being not even as good as its middling Comedy Central predecessor That's My Bush, from the South Park guys, which had the side effect of introducing us to The Great Kurt Fuller.

Oh, but that's all part of the act.

He's pretty hilarious as far as I'm concerned, especially when you factor in that he has to be funny 5 nights a week for the better part of a year! I'm amazed at his abilities in relation to that. Most performers I love would never be able to handle that schedule. SNL can't even do it one night a week!

Perhaps. But I don't feel it makes him funnier.

I'm not all that picky when it comes to comedy, either. I watch and love a lot of comedians. But I feel Colbert's act just wears thin after a while.

Oh, I'm not denying that he's talented. I just don't think he's all that amusing. Being on more frequently doesn't automatically make his act better. :)

Well, I think his brilliance is in the subtleties of his parody. The hammyness is often a cover for more subversive and funny ideas to slip in under the radar, but obviously it's not your cup of tea.

I beg to differ on the last point-I think his consistency adds a lot to his humor, especially when you watch it weekly.

What other comics do you like?
