Frankly, I'm really kind of disappointed in burr86. I think he was like the last thing standing between LJ/6A being seen as irredeemable fucktards by many people who feel disrespected and displaced. But he couldn't resist the LULZ long enough to keep that reputation intact. All this does is alienate people who thought he was a good representative and convinces them that they're nothing but a laughingstock behind the scenes, no matter how valid their concerns may be, whether they're fans or not.

I was half-expecting to see burr86 moved to head of LJA, for better or for worse, and I thought this wasn't going to be such a bad thing because he had developed a rapport with a large portion of the userbase. Now that people feel he doesn't even have the decency to laugh at them behind their backs (no matter what his intent in posting what he did), that's long gone. And I don't think that's fixable, no matter where they put him now.

Even if this was the dumbest dust-up in internetz history, a lot of people are very disturbed by it. The insinuation that fandom=pedophilia and general disrespectfulness of the comment simply perpetuates the idea that not only does 6A/LJ not want nor respect fandom, they are unprofessional and disrespectful to their userbase as a whole -- fandom is simply in the line of fire today.

I'm so very disappointed in LJ's handling of this. And if staffers are coming to snark at fandom in 'staff voice', I'm really disgusted.
