http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/08/dining/08raw.html -- interesting piece on raw milk.

Meanwhile, there were apparently tornados in NYC early this morning and now all the trains are screwed up. I don't even know if I can get to work -- the NYTimes says the 4/5/6 isn't running and the MTA website is too maxed out for it to load.

They're now warning people to not take the subways in Manhattan until after 12 noon, because flooding has caused massive delays. My LIRR line was shut down completely -- the LIRR provided bus service, which promptly got stuck in traffic. Express and local bus service doesn't seem to be running properly, either. Tons of people standing at each bus stop.

Gah. I am so debating not going in.

You don't really need this, since you already know what your train line is doing, but I posted the service advisory info in [livejournal.com profile] newyorkers.

I didn't think the commute by bus and subway was worth it. So, we drove. If we hadn't, I'd still be in Queens. The Cross Bronx was empty. The West Side Highway was a nightmare. I walked 30 blocks south on the West Side from 100th after we parked near my wife's office because there were no buses, empty cabs or subways.
