So ther'es going to be a LoGC gig at the Society for Ethical Culture on Nov. 1 -- of course I can't find ticket info anywhere, which may mean it's sold out, so I suppose I should just call. In the process of trying to sort this out though I discovered that Mum is playing there on 11/9 and 11/10, this being the band that I obsessed on while in Australia because I discovered a tune of theirs on a random sampler attached to an Australian film magazine I picked up because of the fabulous Catherine Martin being on the cover. I've also got Gather seeing if they can get me into the Phillip Pullman Times Talk event on 10/30 as press.

I'm pleased.

Mum is pretty fantastic. I saw them in concert awhile back. Their new stuff has more vocals than their earlier stuff, which is too bad because I preferred their old stuff (all electronic and sampley and bloopy and glitchy). They're more bandlike now.

"Green Grass of Tunnel" is the song that got me hooked, so would that be the more or less vocals variety?

I guess I'd call it medium. It's off one of the earlier, but not earliest, albums, and the later stuff has more vocals and the earlier stuff has less. But who knows how consistent a trend this is!

Fair enough. I really only knwo this one song, but am going to go on a whim anyway, since that song kept me sane through the worst of the "I hate my film/tv teacher" drama over there.
