I have to go deal with my crazy life now, but I just sent out two pitches for book store events for the book, so we'll see what happens. I'm never sure what I should do and what I should let my publisher do.
From what I can glean from Pell and his dealings with authors, is that proactivity is basically always appreciated if the person is nice (and just wearisome if the person is a dick). But you're also savvy enough to know the difference between "being proactive" and "being a control freak".
Don't worry! They sound like nice people to work with - they'll tell you what you need to do and what they can do. In fact, I suspect they appreciate your enthusiasm.
