Philcon

There will be more when this is all firmed up but right now I can report:

1. We will be at Philcon November 16 - 18. We'll probably take the bus down, but then I will have to go visit the train station because I'm obsessed with that stupid statue.

2. I should have both Horror Between the Sheets and my Harry Potter book for sale at the BU table. There will be a slight discount for those purchasing more than one book off the table (not just mine, but the work of other BU'ers as well).

3. If there is a Rapidfire Reading (we don't know yet), I will be participating. Probably with a small scene from the novel in progress, which makes me so nervous I want to puke.

5. I may or may not be doing other programming.

6. I fucking love Philadelphia, althugh I don't really know why, and would love to meet up with people either at or away from the Con as time permits.

A shame about the timing, as we're going there for Thanksgiving.

Which statue?

The Rocky one? :D

The war memorial with the wings that's in the train station. It's very possibly my favorite statue in the whole world.

Ah, now I understand.

Hmm, do you know if there's a way for people who haven't registered to come to a few of the events? Maybe I'm going about the website improperly, but I can't find out. I might be going up for the big wizard rock concert (the Whomping Willows, the Moaning Myrtles and others) that Sunday, and if so I'd like to stop by! I enjoyed your reading at PR, and I was really drawn into your novel_in_90 writings (that novel is what you'd be reading from?), so let us know when you find out. :)

I, too, love Philadelphia and don't know why--it's not like I have any particular attachments to people or memories there. The Reading Terminal Market stands as this wonderful place in my imagination, but I don't really remember what it was actually like...

I will be reading from that novel (again, if we get the reading), and I will be starting again for NaNoWriMo -- I have to get it written as not getting it written is making me not just cranky but very unpleasant to be around.

Is there a wizard rock concert in Philly that night? This is now _very_ interesting.

I'm not sure there's a way to get into Philcon for just an event or two, but I believe the student rate is only $25, which is somewhat better than the $45 otherwise.

Just found the Wrock info. Very interesting. I need to find a way to be in two places at once, it seems. Once I find out if and when I am presenting at Philcon, I may have a proposition for you (i.e., I'll grab your Philcon membership if you do me a promotional favor at the concert). More as I know it. Keep me posted on your plans.

Excellent, I hope the reading goes through! What would you be needing at the concert? (No interest in it for its own sake?) As to the membership, I wouldn't mind buying one if I were going to the whole thing, but I think I'd only have time to stop by for a few events. I'll let you know my plans as soon as I find transportation, although that might take a week or two.

I'm a little surprised they aren't associating the two events with one another...

I know, right! I'd love to go to the concert myself, but don't know that I'll be able to yet. It does seem like I am on programming as of now based on a prelim note I got earlier, but I don't know what or when.
