This is an utterly horrifying tale of a French teenage boy raped in Dubai and his dealings with the legal system there.

Because of the work I do for the Germans, I do a lot of coverage on Dubai, and there's been some discussion of my travelling there at some point. While it is one of those parts of the world that deeply fascinate me, I'm not really interested in giving their economic miracle another dime right now.

I've read a great deal about the economic and technological progress there, but had not heard anything about the legal system or social climate. It's definitely very sad that a nation that is so fascinating in so many ways is socially a reactionary hellhole.
