I can't even think of a succint way to explain why this utterly fascinates me, and it's not the rubbernecking/freakshow impulse.

Any time mythology crosses the time barrier and steps into the present, however briefly, it piques my curiosity and jangles this web of some gestalt understanding of symbolism in which our deeper meanings are entangled.

That's all I can work out.

The irreverent thought in my head is "good thing her parents aren't arachnophobic."

I am too, but I think it is the fact that a bit of mythology slipped into our world. A part of me wonders if her family was hesitant to do the surgeries because of the goddess connection.

It's pretty awesome. Of the "awe inspiring" definition. Of course, what I really want is to see MRI/X-ray images, because the biologist in me is fascinated in figuring out how her systems are set up.

I've read and seen stuff about parasitic twins before. But this is pretty astounding! She has the cutest smile. I'll be sending good thoughts to India. Her parents also seem intensely cool about the whole thing. I'm thankful she was able to get the care she needs.

I saw these this morning: x-rays

Pretty trippy stuff.

I have seen several pictures of her and she's always just glowing and beautiful. When I imagine it, I think I would be freaked out or that it would be uncomfortable or something. But she looks so happy.

Wow.

I could stare at that for hours. I wish I could come up with any way to teach about this stuff in my class so that I'd have an excuse to do more research. Fascinating.

She really does look like such a happy kid. I can't imagine how odd it's going to be for her after this is over.

Aw she's so pretty! I saw this on the news tonight (while waiting for referendum and mayoral results). Human beings are so very interesting.

It's an amazing story! Such a rare condition, a cute little girl, and now medicine has advanced to where they can correct this.
