woo

Just finished recording for Snapecast, and I'm playing back some of the files as I wait for them to email. I think of myself as having an ugly voice, and most of what I hear of it is on voiceposts here -- badly distored by talking on a cell phone.

Wow, I'm listening to this and I'm just crisp and neat and funny and have a pleasant tone to my voice and good enunciation and it's fine; it's even good.

Who knew.

funny how our

[identity profile] newwaytowrite.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
ear hears differently from what our audience hears.

I remember not liking the sound of my voice recorded until someone ( a write actually) said he enjoyed the drawl of my voice and the sound of my "voice" in my written voice.

[identity profile] browneyedgirl65.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
No one ever seems to like the sound of their own voice played back at them ;-). Don't understand it myself but it's remarkably consistent...

Cool that it sounds so much better in this case, then!

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I like your voice!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so you knew! Thank you

But this thing recorded so clearly, I'm like "oooooh, I'll have to record you odd things for Syria on it.

How was the show?

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, you should. I liked what you recorded last time and that was just via phonepost.

It was good! I liked the new bits better than the bits from the movie, but still.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, I am glad you ahd fun.

Maybe, actual compelte songs this time -- either made up or stuff that I'll always singign to you until I forget the words.

OMG, we're back in comments. Nostalgia! (No-stal-gia -- said like po-ta-to)

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. I liked your revamped pirate song, though.

Comments are exciting.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Must finish pirate song!

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha. I have other similar old-fashioned-My-Sailor-Has-Gone-Away songs I should send you.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
You should. I'll have to stock up for your absence.

Apparently, our talking about this generates Google adds for candy and, I kid you not, "pirate bedding"

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'm just getting a bunch of ads for email programs. Though I have no idea how that relates.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Keys and padlocks now!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
holy fuck -- it's a matter of time until that guy with the horse for a primary has an MTV reality show isn't it?

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! God, yeah. That might possibly be less trashy than some of the shows already on MTV.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, look at it this way, the human wife probably wont' bitchslap a horse.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
And the horse can't call her a cunt. It could neigh harassingly, though.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
True, but it wouldn't dress as badly as the Tila Tequila contestants.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I got no google ads! Just a blank strip. We broke its mind.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I got a thing about hardwood flooring.

I think the Google has a sense of humour.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
The google?

I bet it does, though. Watching what people search for would probably drive it crazy if it didn't have a sense of humor.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Now it's cork flooring.

The Google. Like when my parents ask what I'm doing on The Computer.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Mine wants to know if I shut down my computer when I leave work.

Hee. The Google is all the google anyone would need. It is the new overlord.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"The All-New Blackbery" is apparently "Powerful, Smart and available" -- it's like a kinky nerd personal.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Now I have ones for several different types of phones, but alas Google did not pick up on kinky as a key word.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Geek Dad shirts for kids"

that is soooo not okay.

[identity profile] miep.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
okay, you two. this is getting long and silly and even more full of private jokes than before.

well done.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
We're just quoting google ads at each other.

But I was wondering when you would come to look.

[identity profile] miep.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
*giggle*

whenever the comment count starts going up rapidly, I am drawn like mosquitos to ... um.. me.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
GoDaddy #1 Domain Names!

The Google has issues.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Considering it's now giving me adds for colon cleansing, why yes.

Perhaps we should digress to the Richard/Alec vampire AU.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
23 year old makes big bucks!

Though I'm not sure if that's related to the vampire AU, or the hooker AU which every fandom should have.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, Google is telling me I can meet vampire females. IS there something you're not telling me.

Over the summer I almost wrote a rent-boy Swordspoint AU', but it felt dark and I never got to it and couldn't quite figure out the why of it.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
No, if I was a vampire I would probably be less found of summer. Though I suppose the being dead and having no body heat thing would be a good reason to dislike the cold.

I support rent-boy AUs.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I just figured out how to justify it.

Jessamyn.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
She is often central.

My google ads are alternating between expensive chocolates and killer bunny slippers, which I feel should be included in the story.

But now I need to go to bed. *kisses*

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Goodnight, my dear. Many kisses.

I have ads for oomphies slippers, but lord knows what those are.

Yes, maybe they're really broke and Jessamyn has to point out to Richard that boys earn more.

Oh, I am making the evil laugh.

I think Richard would be terrible at being a whore. And oh, woul Alec love telling him so!

[identity profile] miep.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
dear god, I can't even fathom what kind of google ads that one got...

nonsequitor

[identity profile] 40sw.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
http://40sw.livejournal.com/636468.html

is the picture obnoixous & just distracting?
I'm thinking maybe I should throw it out and go with just text- thoughts?

Re: nonsequitor

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
The color pulls my eye in a way that makes it hard to read, eventhough it doesn't imapct the letters, I'm not sure why, but it's not obnoxious and pretty interesting.

[identity profile] delchi.livejournal.com 2007-11-24 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
So when will this recording be available?

Also : I have a reocrding of a song called " Intelligence " that A.R. did forever ago. It's rather odd and old. Think they would want a copy of it?

[identity profile] featherofeeling.livejournal.com 2007-11-25 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I very much enjoyed your reading at PR, and part of the reason for that was your command over your voice and its over us.

(I'm sad I didn't get to go to your Philcon reading, and sorry about not being able to do anything for you at the wrock show--college vans are almost impossible to coordinate, it turns out. But I would have liked to have heard from the new novel.)

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-11-30 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I tend to be proud of my command over my voice, but dislike its natural qualities. I'm really coming around about it though.

Philcon was madness, don't feel bad. I'll be trotting it out at other things, without a doubt.
