Patty and I just came from this.

AMAZING.

Everytime you think it's lost its grip on the movie you're sure it's trying to be it circles back and displays its utter mastery of what it's up to. Just sit with it. It is not the war movie or the romance it is being marketed as.

Also, as an aside, apparently even with a hat pulled down over his face I can recognize Tobias Menzies' voice/jaw-line in about a syllable and a half. Which is pretty damn odd.

Have you read the novel? If so, how was it in comparison?

I haven't, but it feels like it's probably close because it has such a specific structure to it.

According to one article I read, the book is still better primarily because of the intense weight/importance given to inanimate objects. (??) But I loved the movie too and haven't read the book.

I love Tobias! He can play my own personal Brutus any day. I'd just want him to stroll around my living room talking about Cicero.

I am so glad I am not alone in this. He's sorta my mental image of Snape as a young man too (since while I adore Alan Rickman he is decades too old for the role).

That's interesting, as I haven't heard much of anything about this one yet. Well, other than the fact it is a Magnolia Pictures product, and with Mark Cubans involvement/ownership that has had some people around here in a real wad.
