I (in various pieces that took place over the course of 15 years) have driven from one coast the the other, gone up and down the East from DC to Boston, and driven from San Diego to Seattle. However, with the exception of two short visits to Arkansas, I know nothing of the deep south or Texas. I'm mildly envious, although I have no desire to see the south for more than a few days.
I must admit being highly puzzled by your mention of the "Saturday is the Lord's Day; Sunday Laws are the Mark of the Beast" sign, do you have any idea what fringe sect is behind that?
