bad geek no biscuit

I just explained to Alison how Firefly is sort of like the West Wing, but a western, in space.

And then, since I was listening to the sort of music I'm always listening to, I realize, that, once again, I've acquired another fandom to which social set dancing is oddly and effectively applied (HP and Riverside being the other two).

Like the West Wing because it's smart, and quick, and has a fantastic ensemble cast of actors and characters. (Not that I have the abolute love for it or anything.) Did you ever see the video that has pieces of Firefly and Serenity set to a song from Wicked? If not, it's here. I'm not a Wicked fan, but the song and the scenes fit well. Also, there's a snippet of River doing the dance on that planet while Simon watches.

Very verbal and all about the chemistry, but yeah, same thing.

And wow, that girl did totally win the Internet there.

I just started watching Firefly (don't tell me how it ends!) and you hit on exaclty why I love it so...because just like West Wing (which makes me giddy with...glee) it is about the dialogue and the character interaction!

Have you ever watched Buffy or Angel? I mean, I love the West Wing and pretty much anything Sorkin does-but all "about the dialogue and the character interaction" is a very Joss Wheadon thing too, and as his show predates West Wing...

...nevermind, I'm just being a really picky geek here :)

Oh yeah! I'm watching Buffy too...gettin' the whole Whedonverse going on! Not sure about Angel...I don't really like him as a character...but give me time.

I shied away from all his stuff when it first came out because I focused on the fantasy/sci-fi angle and those really aren't my thing. No one told me how awesome he was at dialogue and wit...now I have been converted.

Sorkin, Whedon, Smith...give me the witty dialogue and I'm there!!
