- first draft of personal statement
- really solid edit of Cat-Man essay
- realization that Cat-Man essay is only about 6 pages, which means I need 19 - 24 more pages of writing samples to send, which leads us to the following:

- I really, really like that fucked up thing I wrote about Australia, prostitution and Baz Luhrmann. It would need severe edits and restructuring, but I'm more than capable. My concern about including it amongst my writing samples (it would be about 9 pages) is that memoir programs get constant submissions about childhood sexual abuse, prostitution and abortion, and that their eyes would immediately glaze over and I'd be one of Those Girls and that it would hurt my chances of getting in. On the other hand, it's one of the few pieces I have sitting around that addresses my life as an adult, but not who I am right this minute (I have a piece on fencing I am working on that I also plan to send), and it is a real part of who I am, what I write about and why I write.

So:

send it or don't send it?
also can one use "fuck" in a writing sample for an MFA program?

Now, I'm going to crawl out of bed and look at some web design stuff that isn't for me, which is exactly the rest my brain needs.

amazing. Your writing will stand out.
